Former Spurs star linked with West Ham switch as quartet miss out against Crystal Palace

West Ham beat Crystal Palace 2-1 in a friendly on Saturday afternoon but with news kept quiet, it has emerged four first team players missed out

By Sam Inkersole

Declan Rice handed the armband in win over Crystal Palace

The club tried to keep most things quiet in the aftermath of West Ham's win over Palace at the weekend but goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski gave something away.

He posted a picture of him making a save at London Stadium and it showed Declan Rice, who football.london has learned was the only player to play 90 minutes on Saturday, with the captain's armband around his left arm.

Quartet miss out against Palace

As mentioned above, West Ham are keen to keep things on the quiet in regards to the game but there are reports that four players missed out against Palace.

Manager David Moyes is hopeful of having a full squad to choose from when his team face Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday as the likes of Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmolenko have both recovered from long-term injuries.

We know Angelo Ogbonna sat out the first friendly win over QPR but who else was ruled out of the game on Saturday?

Angelo Ogbonna, Arthur Masuaku, Robert Snodgrass and Pablo Zabaleta were all notable absentees

Forrmer Spurs star linked with West Ham move

Paul Lopez, former Spurs goalkeeper, is reportedly of interest to West Ham this summer to compete with Lukasz Fabianski for the number one spot.

Despite the Hammers financial constrainhts this summer, that hasn't stopped them being linked with moves and this one seems nonsense with a £40million price tag on Lopez's head.

There is no way West Ham would part with that amount of money this summer when the budget is expected to be very tight in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hammers track Championship left back

West Ham is claimed to be tracking the situation with Wigan’s Antonee Robinson who has returned to training after undergoing treatment on a heart issue detected during a failed transfer to AC Milan in January. The 22-year-old defender was poised to make a seven-figure move to the Serie A side, only for an irregular heart rhythm to show up during his medical.

He has since had further tests and treatment and returned with his doctors telling him he doesn’t require further medical procedures.

Robinson’s return to football comes after months of treatment with the Championship club’s medical staff and an independent cardiologist.

In March, it was revealed that the former Everton trainee was planned to undergo cardiac ablation to fix the issue detected in his heart.

Robinson joined Wigan from Everton Academy in July 2019 for £2m on a three-year contract.

A report in the Sun newspaper today by Alan Nixon claims Slaven Bilic and David Moyes are tracking the player’s possible availability this summer.

According to a report from the Sunday Mirror West Ham are eyeing up a £1.5 million bid for Serbian teenage midfielder Milos Pantovic.

Red Star Belgrade is close to selling 17-year-old attacking midfielder Milos Pantovic to Spring Lisbon for $2m last year but the deal failed to materialise and is currently on loan with FK Graficar Beograd.

The player is the type of young hungry player David Moys has often talked about openly in his attempt to replicate the RB Leipzberg model. Buying such an unknown player would be a gamble but you only need one or two successes to pay off to warrant the modest sums to snap up this kind of players.

It unlikely that a player would go directly into the first team and would most likely spend some time in development squad like Goncalo Cardoso when he joined West Ham last August for £2.7m from Boavista, he has yet to make his breakthrough to the first team but at 19 years old still has time on his hands.

Approach made for Liverpool player training alone

West Ham United have been in contact regarding signing Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne, according to Read Liverpool.

Clyne is out of contract at Liverpool at the end of the month, and the defender will reportedly leave the Reds on a free transfer.

The right-back is training on his own at the moment, according to the report, which has claimed that West Ham have made an approach to his representatives, but they have not made an official contract offer yet.

Good signing for West Ham United?

Clyne has not played this season due to injury, but the 29-year-old right-back is fit again and is a very good player.

The former Southampton star is still only 29 years of age, and he can be an asset for West Ham in years to come.

With Pablo Zabaleta telling Radio Continental that he will leave West Ham this summer, manager David Moyes will need a right-back.

Clyne may not have made a huge impact at Liverpool, but for an ambitious and established club such as West Ham, the defender could be a superb signing.

So, the same old scatter-gun approach... just done on the cheap. Only at West Ham.
